A smarter way to develop IT systems at Brno University Hospital with HPE GreenLake

Brno University Hospital is a leading Czech hospital providing a wide range of medical care at European standards. With more than a thousand beds and several specialized centers, it is one of the key healthcare providers in the country. The hospital focuses on the long-term sustainability of its infrastructure, which plays a crucial role in providing quality and rapid care to patients. Modernizing its IT infrastructure is therefore an important priority for supporting daily operations and maintaining the security of sensitive patient data.

The Brno University Hospital found itself in a situation where it needed to replace its original IT infrastructure, which was no longer able to adequately respond to growing operational needs and reliability requirements. The PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), which stores and manages radiological and other image records, requires a stable and flexible IT environment with sufficient capacity to store sensitive data.

The main goal of the project was to ensure continuous operation and easy scalability of system storage without the need for large one-time investments. Brno University Hospital chose the HPE GreenLake model, which allows for flexible data capacity management and gradual expansion according to current needs with monthly payments.

Our specialists, in cooperation with Brno University Hospital, designed and implemented a robust IT infrastructure solution on the HPE GreenLake platform, which allows the hospital to operate a storage system as a service with flexible pricing based on actual usage. An HPE disk array was implemented to store and manage medical imaging data for the PACS system.

HPE GreenLake not only provides instant access to data storage capacity scaling, but also ensures that the hospital only pays for the capacity it actually uses. Overall, this model has enabled Brno University Hospital not only to optimize its costs, but also to contribute to the long-term maintenance of quality and availability of care through a stable IT environment.

The implementation of the HPE GreenLake solution at Brno University Hospital represents a significant shift in IT infrastructure management, which now meets modern requirements for efficiency, flexibility, and reliability. The project, implemented in 2023/2024, provided the hospital with a stable and flexible foundation for the operation of key healthcare systems.
